A Busy Weekend In February

It was a cold blustery day, Saturday the 14th of February! We had a full day of basketball. Well almost a full day. Hayden's last game was at noon. Only for some reason his dad went at 11 and they were leaving when we got there at 12. Hayden was a part of a learning league and somehow he didn't end up on one team. He was a super-sub! What the heck? He was supposed to show up every week and be teamed with a team who was short! What the heck? LOL Oh well he had fun so I guess us adults will just let it pass. We did get a cute pic of him and ONE of those teams LOL

So we went from there to Haley's game in Auburn. Her team, the Miner's, are doing really well. They have only lost one game this year. Haley had a great game, she EVEN made a basket. Her expertise seems to be defense though. She jumps around like a jack rabbit and makes everyone crazy! Here are a couple of pictures of the crew.strong>

And THEN Ed took me out to dinner. We went to Cattlemen's at 5:10 and they were taking no more names for the EVENING! Geez, we gotta move outta this place!
We ended up at Islands having yummy burgers and a great evening. Oh yes it was Valentine's Day!

Sunday brought me lots of little ones. Mandy and Obee celebrated their wedding anniversary today so we agreed to keep the kiddos overnight so they could have some alone time. It went really well. Jordyn slept all night and Ellie slept all night with the exception of one hour LOL I guess they all went out Sunday morning to the mall to get haircuts...They all looked so nice. Rhythm Riders Concert

We had the best time tonight. The Penryn Plays Playground Committee put on a benefit performance to raise money for the new fields and playground. I guess the parks dept. had planned us to be the last in the area to receive this new equipment and with the budget now it won't be happening. So a bunch of people started their own thing and they have raised a lot of money. A local band named the Rhythm Riders, A Johnny Cash/Patsy Cline tribute band performed, FREE. I got Ed tickets for our anniversary and then his company donated a BUNCH of money in surveying services so they sent George two more tickets. We went with our friends the Posehns and just had a marvelous time. It was a blast. With one exception. A section of the crowd, near the bar, were roudy and rude. I finally told someone that I thought the bar should be closed during the performance and it worked. Then the drunks were still rude but not as loud and they couldn't continue to drink and get worse.
This man looks so much like Johnny Cash it was eerie and he sings his songs so amazingly well. His wife was awesome too and I especially liked the songs they sang together.

We bought a couple of Cd's and had them signed. One for Ed's boss. I think I might have Haley write him a note on the program too. Aleanea and Justin we missed you and they play in Sacto sometimes so maybe mandy and obee and all of us could go one night to hear them.

A Date To Remember part 2

Well I have waited for the proper time so that I won't jump the gun here but it seems almost everyone else knows so now it's my turn to let the cat out of the
bag. Obee and Mandy are expecting a baby in October. I can't wait to meet him/her. It brings back so many thoughts of my FAVORITE memories: That 2nd night home from the hospital with #1 when she was so exhausted and called me crying in the middle of the night. Hayden and I slept together the rest of the night while his mommy and daddy caught up a bit. It was really a special night for me. And when Elena was born so peacefully in our bedroom. OMGosh I was totally struck with awe at what Mandy had done and that this baby entered the world so gently. Then there was the mixed memory of knowing I wouldn't be there when Jordyn was born and of course this growing family should be alone this time to welcome her. I was okay with it with the exception that I worried, ridiculously, that I wouldn't bond with her the way I had with the other two because I hadn't seen her born. LOL And then on July 3rd the phone rang and Obee and Mandy needed me to come NOW, something was happening way too fast. Within 90 min Jordyn, our 4th of July baby, was born while I held Ellie's sleepy little body in my arms and watched Hayden ask a million questions awestruck by seeing his sister, again gently, slip into our world. I am ready for another experience to ponder on when I took at them sleep or play or just hug the dog. I do love these babies and the one to come very very much. Yippee I am gonna be a gramma again....and yes Ed has been resusitated and will live! LOL Just joking.

February 5, 2009 a date to remember and to forget

It's been a trying day. The fifth grade was horrible today and Haley wanted to run away crying, well she did. But she pulled it together with lots of encouragement and is returning the face those 'jerks' tomorrow. Oh how I remember 5th grade! You?
I hope and pray tomorrow she remembers one phrase if nothing else. The ultimate comeback, 'you ARE pathetic' connected with turn of the hip, swish of the hair and a smile! We will see!!!! I wish she could see how unimportant this will be to her in a few years. But alas we must ALL go to the 5th grade once. LOL

I am so far behind in everything. I need to blog, crop, scrap, clean, etc. etc.

Oh and this post will serve for now as a place holder for something I want to remember to share in the near future. That would be the THING to remember LOL
