The Roser Clan vs. WEED!

Our lower pond has been taken over by some sort of water lily that has wonderful purple flowers but totally engulfs our pond. Ed tried spraying it to kill it off and some died and some did not. They have been working for months to pull it all out. This weekend they challenged it big time! They rigged this long pipe with three ropes. Threw it out over a pile of it and then Tony, Ed and Michael and Hayden pulled it slowly to the shore. Then they had to pitch fork it all out onto the shore.


Michael eventually had to wade up to his chest to throw the pipe out far enough. He was one filthy guy at the end of the day.


They worked for four or five hours until they were all exhausted. This stiff is so heavy! Cross your fingers that it doesn't all grow back before they get back to it LOL.

Hayden was a big help. He and Ellie were down there all morning. Eliie was the water girl. Coming several times to the house to get them water to drink.

Ed and Michael did most of the shoveling while Hayden and Tony pulled rope.

And of course Harley was there to help. He was in the pond chasing the pole. Ed threw an oar off our boat out to Mike once or twice to use to pull himself back in or the pole out further. Harley thought it was 'chase the stick' time and once even got the oar and pulled it all the way into shore. Here is is nested in an old pile of the dried out weed on the bank. Now this is ONE dirty dog!
